A Plea to be Noticed

These are shirts I did for Virginia Beach Middle School. They are for the school’s yearly school play.

This was a “practice project” we had to do in art last year, but it slowly progressed into something much more meaningful. At least to me, anyway. I don’t quite remember what the project was about, other than that we had to draw a rope from observation. I revolved mine around comic books (which was going to be my theme for the year, but I got tired of it), so I made myself the one with super human powers. Thus the quote “They look at me like I’m Super Human… But it’s really just creativity.”
I believe this is done with coffee, Indian Ink, sharpie, white acrylic, and pencil.

This a Still Life I did for my Drawing Painting and Printmaking class. I was called “The Rock and Roll” still life, in other words it played classic rock and had microphones, speakers, and lights all over the set. Although, I dragged my feet through this assignment, I still like how it turned out. I really proved to myself that I can draw from life.
This is done entirely in pencil.

This was a project I did on my own time, it’s not quite finished yet, but I haven’t exactly decided what else I want to do with it. For this, I wanted to do a ‘letter back home’. In this case, a letter home from Heinrich Himmler, head of the SS(mentioned in an earlier post). The idea is that the letter (that I will edit it later) says one thing, but Himmler’s doing the exact opposite.
I really like this piece, to be honest, even though it’s not done yet. For it, I used, pen, watercolor, pencil, and coffee.

As mentioned in a previous post, here’s Shakespeare. I drew him last year for my mom, and everyone absolutely adores him. He took some time to draw, since I was drawing him from memory.
He’s done in water color and water color pencil.

Another one of my favorites from last years art class. This was Walk a Mile in my Shoes, which I revolved around my love for history. (In this case, WWII) Anyhow, I love this piece because I made this around the time when I was really starting to get into drawing people, and some of my world leaders from the 40’s looked realistic.
I used water colors and pencil in this piece.

This is one of my favorite pieces, done for a gimpy art show my art teacher was putting on. The theme was ‘Journey Animals’, mine being the deer and the bat. Our theme revolved around the 1 Million Bones Project which is about genocide awareness, making this project a joy for me.Over all, the idea was to interpret our journey animals leading us out and away from genocide and fear.
What was required was a drawing of a bone (Mine being the spine), and our animals’ bones drawn in an interesting way. I included words into mine, and in fact did some research to find the phrases. I quoted Reichsfurher, Heinrich Himmler, Minister of Nazi Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels (to create that notation towards genocide), and FDR’s famous ‘The Only Thing We Have to Fear is…’ speech. (To elaborate on getting away from fear)
For materials, I used coffee (one of my favorites), white acrylic mixed with water, and a whole mess of sharpie.

A little side project I did for my mom. During the previous school year (2010-2011), I drew my mom a big picture of Shakespeare(Which I shall post later). Over the summer, I got a request for a list of writers my mom can hang up around the class. I started with Edgar Allen Poe.
It’s done entirely with pen and pencil

This piece was a side project I was assigned in my art class. We were required to have a prepared background, an object drawn from observation, and several other requirements. Luckily, I had my Joker (from “The Dark Knight”)action figure, and drew him.
Materials I used were water colors, sharpie pen, white china marker, pencil, and colored pencils.
